Douro
The Douro is one of the most important rivers in the Iberian Peninsula and a must-do while traveling in the region. The river gets its name from its source, the Duruelo de la Sierra municipality in northern Spain, and makes its way through central Spain and Portugal before finishing in Porto. Thanks to its 550-some mile length, hundreds of colorful and interesting cities can be found near the Douro River.
You can go porto tasting at its ‘headquarters’ at São João da Pesqueira; marvel at the impressive Academia de Caballeria at Valladolid; or enjoy a celebratory day at the beach after you reach the end of your cruise in Porto.
