In 2018, Europe received 672 million visitors who spent approximately 519 billion US dollars. Welcoming half of the world’s international tourist arrivals, Europe continues to stand as the most-visited region on the globe. Within Europe, the 28 countries of the European Union account for the bulk of the region’s international arrivals, some 81% of Europe’s total and 40% of the world’s figure. Even more interesting is Italy, Spain, France and England accounted for 55% of EU travel
with France being the number one tourist destination in the world in terms of arrivals.
